Shaker Style Kitchens

There are several styles that create a classic kitchen that will last for years, but none more so than the ‘Shaker’. The simplistic lines of a Shaker door are what gives it longevity, and when combined with quality materials and traditional English craftsmanship it is a winning formula for an outstanding kitchen.

Davonport has been creating Shaker style kitchens for many years. Using their bespoke design service they craft kitchens from a range of timbers including oak, ash, walnut, cherry and tulipwood, which can be left to show the beauty of the natural wood or hand painted in Davonport’s workshops. Drawer units in the Shaker style are dovetailed and fitted with the latest fully extending Blum soft closing runners, and the doors have handmade wooden magnetic catches to ensure a perfect close.

The simple frames and exposed hinges of a naturally styled Shaker kitchen are particularly beautiful painted in a natural palette of colours, complemented by the combination of the warmth of wooden work tops and cool granite tops for the working areas.

Davonport offers a range of base, tall and wall curved cabinets as well as a classic island barrel unit with pullout chopping boards. Bespoke painted mantles for range style cookers and Aga’s with integral extraction are a further optional addition to the Shaker kitchen. These are also created with a wide range of accessories, including a choice of corbels, internal dovetailed pullout spice drawers, secret compartments and classic radius end pilasters.

Davonport make selection of Pantries with stunning interiors, which are based upon a Shaker style larder cabinet with bi-fold doors, classic radius columns, and an internal marble cold shelf above a row of dovetailed drawers - to keep food naturally below ambient temperature. It is said that ‘a Shaker style kitchen is truly appreciated and adored by those who live with them’.
