Our Favourite Autumn Dessert Recipes
The Autumn naturally motivates us to get back into our kitchens with its cooler weather and shorter days, and recipes full of the summer’s harvest provide fresh flavours and warming treats for our taste buds.
One of our many favourite things about the new culinary season is the return of roast dinners, and especially when combined with the comforting autumn desserts that accompany them.
We have searched and salivated (!), and here are our favourite autumn dessert recipes to complement a hearty meal. They all packed full of English fruit and simple enough to rustle up on a slow Sunday… enjoy!
1. The Classic Crumble
This classic apple and blackberry crumble recipe is packed full of the iconic seasonal fruits and a firm family favourite.
2. Sumptuous Apple Cake
The very best apple dessert cake by Mary Berry can be served warm as a dessert or eaten cold as a sweet treat with a cup of coffee. Mary likens it to an alternative danish pastry, so technically you could also eat this for your breakfast the following day!
3. Eve’s Pudding with a twist
This warming pear & ginger eve’s sponge provides a different take on the iconic pudding, replacing apple with pear as the main ingredient. The aromatic smell of ginger that it exudes as its cooking makes it the perfect dinner party dessert.
4. Seasonal Bread and Butter Pudding
For a super-filling dessert look no further than this bread and butter pudding with pear and cinnamon. The fresh pear and warm spice combine perfectly to provide a sensory sensation.
5. The Best Custard
In the UK traditional custard is the most popular companion to a sweet something. This creamy vanilla-infused recipe is easy to make and it also tastes amazing eaten on its own.
It was hard to whittle them down, but these 5 recipes are simple, scrumptious and perfect for sharing. Speaking of which, we would love to see your efforts, feel free to tag us on social media: Instagram @davonport_interiors or Facebook @DavonportKitchens.
