How Much Does a Bespoke Kitchen Cost?

A Davonport kitchen typically begins at approximately £45,000. As a broad guide, a smaller kitchen may cost between £45,000 and £65,000, a medium kitchen between £70,000 and £100,000, and a large kitchen between £110,000 and £180,000.

These figures are not fixed package prices. Every Davonport kitchen is designed individually, so the final investment reflects the quantity and complexity of the furniture, the materials selected, the choice of appliances and the particular requirements of the room and household.

Room size can be useful when discussing likely costs, but it does not tell the whole story. A large room does not necessarily need to be filled with cabinetry. In some homes, a more restrained arrangement provides a better sense of proportion and supports the way the client wishes to live. Equally, a compact kitchen containing specialist materials and highly personalised internal details may require a greater investment than its dimensions initially suggest.

The following ranges are intended to help with early planning. They assume a complete Davonport kitchen project, including the design process, cabinetry, worktops, a mixture of appliances selected for the client, handles, sinks, taps, delivery, installation and finishing of the furniture.

Small kitchens: £45,000 to £65,000

A smaller Davonport kitchen will usually contain a more modest amount of cabinetry, although it does not necessarily need to occupy a small room. It may take the form of a galley kitchen or a compact L shaped arrangement, designed to provide the necessary preparation, cooking and storage areas without overcrowding the space.

Working within a smaller footprint places particular importance on thoughtful planning. Cabinet dimensions, appliance positions and internal storage can all be developed around the client’s requirements. The result remains entirely bespoke, with the same approach to design and workmanship as a larger commission, but with a more contained furniture specification.

Material choices, appliance requirements and specialist internal features may move a smaller project towards the upper end of the range.

Medium kitchens: £70,000 to £100,000

A medium kitchen may include an L shaped or U shaped arrangement, often accompanied by an island. There may also be a bank of tall cabinetry containing ovens, refrigeration and pantry storage.

This level of project provides greater scope to create distinct areas for preparation, cooking, storage and informal seating. The design may also incorporate individually planned features such as tray storage near the ovens, an appliance cupboard or cutlery inserts made around the client’s own collection.

The final cost will depend on the quantity of furniture and the level of detail rather than the layout alone. Appliance selection, worktop material and the complexity of the internal cabinetry will also influence where the project sits within the range.

Large kitchens: £110,000 to £180,000

A large project will often centre on an open plan kitchen with a generous island, several areas of cabinetry and furniture extending into an adjoining pantry, utility room or boot room.

At this scale, the kitchen may need to fulfil several purposes. It can provide a practical place for everyday cooking while also supporting entertaining, family life and more formal occasions. The design must therefore consider how the different areas connect, how people move through the room and how the furniture relates to the wider architecture.

The breadth of this price range reflects the many choices available. The amount of cabinetry, the addition of adjoining rooms, premium timbers such as American black walnut, complex quartzite worktops, specialist appliances and highly personal internal fittings can all affect the final investment.

Whole home projects: from £190,000 +

Davonport’s work can extend beyond the kitchen to provide individually designed furniture across several areas of a property. A whole home commission might include dressing rooms, offices, bars, media areas and boot rooms alongside the principal kitchen and its supporting spaces.

There is no standard number of rooms within a whole home project. The scope depends on the property, the client’s brief and the complexity of the furniture required in each space. The starting figure is therefore intentionally open ended.

Designing several rooms together allows practical requirements, materials and architectural details to be considered as part of one coherent scheme. Davonport can also coordinate its work with the client’s architect, builder and interior designer throughout the design process.

The figures above do not include building work, plumbing, electrical work, flooring or general room decoration. Davonport can offer these services separately where required.
