Pink kitchens – are they trending?
Pink kitchens may not be for everyone, but it’s a colour choice that is proving to be popular for those who want something a little different. From the palest blush to a vibrant fuchsia, there are plenty of shades to choose from – including a mid-toned pinky coral that will warm up a North-facing kitchen instantly.

Shades of pink
The big thing to remember when it comes to pink kitchens, is that you choose how much pink is used, and the shade. It might be that a hint of colour is all you need, this could be on the cabinetry of your kitchen island, a pink range or only pink base units with the larger units painted in a crisp white – which incidentally looks fabulous with all shades of pink.
Other shades to use

Soft grey and earthy neutrals like stone, oatmeal and beige will all work with most shades of pink if you want a more muted scheme. Green is also a winning colour to team with pink, it’s uplifting in a dark space whilst bringing a touch of nature to the scheme. You can also go down the contrasting route – if you have chosen a pale pink you could two tone with a dark grey, emerald or navy. Likewise, if you’re opting for the brighter end of the scale then a black accent works particularly well, or consider two or three shades of pink but on different parts of the kitchens. For example, you could have blush walls, mid-pink units and a punchy magenta on your kitchen island.
Team with metallics

Metallics can ‘cool’ or ‘warm’ up pink kitchens – chrome sits in the first camp, with brass and copper in the latter. These extras can really finish off a pink kitchen, use them for handles, knobs and wall lights, if you choose open shelving and also like to hang utensils and saucepans then opt for copper. The patina will add a lovely warmth to the pink scheme.
Wood and wicker accessories

You can interrupt a scheme by using wood and wicker – again, the warming tones of both look great with all shades of pink. They also provide lovely tactile elements which act as a contrast against the flat colour that you’ll have on your walls. There’s something lovely about teaming handcrafted pieces with pink, especially if you’ve picked a plaster pink. Source hand carved bowls and chopping boards and team with earthenware jugs, dishes and vases.
