Salt of the Sea : Maldon Sea Salt Guest Blog

Not many seasonings come with a royal seal of approval, but then not every season is Maldon Sea Salt. We received a Royal Warrant on our 130th anniversary in 2012 and we’re proud to be fit for a queen – literally.

Salt makers born and bred, we’ve been hand harvesting our world famous salt flakes from the coastal town of Maldon since 1882. Located here we take a slightly salt-centric view of the world. With its artisanal production, Maldon Sea Salt continue to make it in the way it has always been made, using the same traditional methods passed down through the centuries. Why change a good thing? If this sounds easy remember that there’s an art in temperature and timing and in particular, the traditional ‘drawing’ of the salt by hand from the pans, that confounds anyone without a salt maker’s skills.

Still family owned and ran by the fourth generation, Maldon Sea Salt is a prestigious and unique product known for its flavour and quality, sought after by chefs and aspiring cooks around the world.

Unashamedly foodie, we revel in the taste that a little seasoning from Maldon Sea Salt brings to dishes from every day to gourmet. Take a pinch between the pads of thumb and middle finger, grinding them a little to break down the bigger crystals, and voila, bon-appétit, you won’t regret it.
