Davonport Junior Designer

Davonport Kitchen & Home is looking for a bright, motivated Junior Designer to join our in-house team in Colchester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in interiors, bespoke furniture, and British craftsmanship to develop their career within a respected luxury brand.

Working closely with our experienced designers, you will support a wide range of live projects and gain hands-on experience across the full design process. From assisting with technical drawings and presentations to helping manage orders and project information, this is a varied, practical, and client-facing role with real scope for progression.

Over time, the role will develop as your knowledge, confidence, and design ability grow.

JUNIOR DESIGNER

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the senior design team across live client projects

  • Assist with the review and preparation of drawings, layouts, and technical documentation

  • Help process furniture orders and maintain accurate internal project records

  • Learn the fundamentals of space planning and bespoke furniture design

  • Prepare samples, presentation materials, and client layouts ahead of meetings

  • Present a polished and professional presence in the showroom and during client interactions

  • Use CAD software, with training provided where needed, to read, amend, and develop scale drawings

What We’re Looking For

  • A genuine interest in interiors, craftsmanship, and considered, timeless design

  • A well-organised and proactive approach, with strong attention to detail

  • Confidence in dealing with clients in a high-end showroom environment

  • Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SketchUp, or a willingness to learn

  • A design qualification, or relevant further education, would be beneficial but is not essential

Career Progression
This is an entry-level position with a clear path for development within the business. For the right candidate, the role offers the opportunity to grow into a more senior design position over time. You will gain direct experience of how bespoke interiors are designed, detailed, and delivered within a well-established British company known for its quality, service, and attention to detail.
