Sparkford | A sophisticated space for entertaining
When a homeowner has unique and specific requirements, a bespoke kitchen ensures every detail can be thoughtfully accommodated. This is precisely why the Davonport Sparkford kitchen design has achieved such success.

Working closely with our client, we created a space designed primarily for stylish entertaining. Every element, from the smallest details to high-specification appliances, has been thought-out to deliver on the brief.
The Sparkford kitchen elegantly blends luxurious sophistication with timeless art deco inspired elegance. A new style of cabinetry has been created for this kitchen, with the foundations routed in our Shoreditch range before merging the clean lines of a flat-panel door with the gentle detail of a cockbead moulding. This fusion combines the visual charm of traditional Shaker cabinetry with the practical simplicity of a flat panel.

Finished in Davonport’s exclusive Cobblestone shade, the cabinetry provides a refined yet understated backdrop. This is complemented by rich sepia-stained oak cabinetry, thoughtfully chosen to bring warmth and depth to the space. For hardware, we selected a mix: Armac Martin’s Edgbaston pull handles in Dark Aged Brass on pantry units and Crofts & Assinder’s Orkney handles in an Antique finish for the remaining cabinetry. These rich brass details further enhance the natural texture and warmth of the oak.

Fluted glass within the oak cabinetry was a deliberate choice to soften the visual impact, preventing the cabinets from feeling overly dominant and too masculine. Inspired by the elegance of the 1930s, the fluted glass subtly conceals the interior contents, while integrated backlighting disperses the ambient lighting.

The highlight of this design is its seamless transition from a sophisticated kitchen into a refined entertainment space. Central to this is the Sparkford dresser crafted from sepia-stained oak, designed specifically for dual functionality. With its fluted glass pocket doors closed, the dresser remains elegantly understated. Opened, it transforms into a fully-equipped drinks station, complete with a second sink set into Infinity Orbico Luxe porcelain worktops, a coffee and preparation area, fingerprint-protected storage, and discreet dishwasher drawers. This intelligent design allows the space to effortlessly switch from functional kitchen to elegant entertainment zone.

For work surfaces, porcelain was chosen for its exceptional durability against stains and scratches, perfect for both hosting gatherings and daily family life. On the island, a waterfall edge showcases the beautiful veining of Infinity Calacatta Hermitage porcelain. We balanced this with the darker Infinity Orbico Luxe porcelain inside the sepia-stained pantry cabinetry, creating a harmonious blend of moody elegance and light refinement.

To introduce warmth and soften acoustics around the stone-dominated island area, we incorporated acoustic wood-slatted panelling behind the seating area. This practical yet stylish choice brings texture and a comforting natural element to the space.
In the main sink area, we created a fully integrated wet zone. The porcelain continues uninterrupted up the cabinetry sides, achieving a polished, seamless finish. A stone shelf, highlighted by discreet, adjustable LED lighting, provides a striking yet practical focal point.

The ceiling, often overlooked, is integral to our design ethos as we see it as the “fifth wall.” Here, rather than a typical ceiling box, we opted for a coffered ceiling to elegantly enhance visual depth. Accentuated by temperature-controlled LED lighting nestled within the moulded profiles, the ceiling softly illuminates the room, creating a warm, ambient glow. This thoughtful choice ensures a welcoming, cohesive atmosphere that effortlessly combines practicality and sophistication.
